European aircraft manufacturer Airbus is opening new A320neo assembly lines in the United States and China to meet the growing demand for single-aisle aircraft. According to the Interfax news agency, the new production lines are being established alongside Airbus’s existing facilities in Mobile, Alabama, and Tianjin, China.
The U.S. section of the new line has already become operational this week, while the new Chinese facility is expected to support the capacity of the existing Tianjin assembly line.
Florent Massou di Labacquer, Airbus Executive Vice President of Operations, stated that this expansion is a key part of the company’s plan to increase A320neo production rates.
Airbus aims to gradually raise its narrow-body aircraft production in the coming years, targeting a monthly output of 75 aircraft. This move is closely linked to the recovery of global air travel and airlines’ ongoing efforts to modernize their fleets with more fuel-efficient models.
