Airbus Delivers the 800th A320 Family Aircraft Produced in China

Airbus has reached a major milestone in the strategically important Chinese market, delivering the 800th A320 family aircraft produced at its Tianjin Final Assembly Line. The aircraft is an A321neo that will join the fleet of Air China.

The Tianjin final assembly line, which entered service in 2008, was Airbus’ first assembly facility outside Europe. The site delivered its first A320 aircraft in 2009. Today, the Tianjin line accounts for around 20% of global A320 family production, covering the A319, A320, and A321 models.

Airbus has gradually expanded its production capacity in China over the years. The 500th aircraft was delivered in 2020, followed by the 700th aircraft joining a fleet in the summer of 2024. In October, Airbus also commissioned a second A320neo final assembly line in Tianjin. This move is considered part of Airbus’ global capacity expansion program aimed at reaching a production rate of 75 single-aisle aircraft per month by 2027.

Airbus officials state that strengthening the company’s industrial presence in China is directly linked to the country’s long-term market potential. According to Airbus forecasts, passenger traffic in China is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 5.3% over the next 20 years—above the global average. The expanded production capacity in Tianjin is expected to play a key role in meeting rising demand and maintaining flexibility across the global production network.
