Air Serbia to Lease Airbus A220 Aircraft from airBaltic

Air Serbia and airBaltic have signed a two-year leasing agreement under which the Latvian airline will operate Airbus A220-300 aircraft on behalf of Air Serbia. The first flights are scheduled to begin on November 1. The deal is based on a “wet lease” arrangement, meaning that airBaltic will provide the aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance.

During the winter season, two A220 aircraft will operate for Air Serbia, with the number increasing to four in the summer of 2026. This marks Air Serbia’s first experience operating the Airbus A220. CEO Jiří Marek stated that the partnership represents an important opportunity for fleet development.

airBaltic noted that the agreement continues a decade-long cooperation between the two airlines and ensures efficient use of its fleet. Such contracts allow airlines to expand capacity without purchasing new aircraft; Air Serbia also views this arrangement as a key way to maintain schedule stability.
