Air India Operates Staff-Only Flight from Dubai to India
Air India operated a special flight from Dubai to India carrying 149 airline personnel after partial reopening of regional airspace.
Due to earlier airspace closures, a significant portion of the airline’s operational workforce had been stranded in Dubai. Instead of civilian passengers, the aircraft carried only pilots and cabin crew members, aiming to reposition critical staff back to India and gradually restore the carrier’s flight network.
Although typically capable of transporting thousands of passengers across long-haul routes, the aircraft was used solely to recover operational crews and support the airline’s network recovery efforts.
Other Indian carriers, including IndiGo, have reportedly initiated similar repositioning efforts to retrieve aircraft and personnel stranded in regional hubs such as Dubai and Jeddah. The return of these crews is considered essential for stabilizing schedules and resuming suspended services.
