Air Astana Prepares GE Engine Stock for Boeing 787-9 Fleet

🇰🇿 Kazakhstan’s flag carrier Air Astana has announced plans to build a reserve stock of General Electric GEnx-1B engines to support its upcoming long-haul operations. Chief Financial Officer Ibrahim Janlyel emphasized that this step is of strategic importance to ensure the safe and uninterrupted operation of the airline’s new Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

👉🏼 Air Astana has three Boeing 787-9s on order. According to CEO Peter Foster OBE, the aircraft are expected to be delivered within 8–12 months, replacing the airline’s current fleet of three Boeing 767s. With the arrival of the new widebody jets, Air Astana aims to launch its first long-haul flights from Kazakhstan to the United States.
