Air Algérie Takes Delivery of Its First Airbus A330-900neo, Accelerating Long-Haul Fleet Renewal

Air Algérie has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330-900neo, marking a major step forward in the modernisation of the airline’s long-haul fleet and reinforcing its long-standing partnership with Airbus. The new aircraft is set to play a central role in the carrier’s network expansion from its hub at Algiers–Houari Boumediene Airport (ALG), supporting planned growth into transatlantic and Asian markets.
The airline is scheduled to receive seven additional A330neo wide-body aircraft, which will position Air Algérie as the largest operator of the A330neo on the African continent. According to the carrier, the aircraft will deliver significant improvements in performance, operating economics, and passenger comfort.
Air Algérie’s newly delivered A330-900neo features a three-class configuration, offering 18 full-flat seats in business class, 24 seats in premium economy, and 266 seats in economy class.
Airbus highlighted the advantages of the aircraft’s interior, stating, “The A330neo features the award-winning Airspace cabin, which offers passengers a unique experience, a high level of comfort, ambience, and design. This includes more individual space, enlarged overhead bins, a new lighting system, and access to the latest in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems.”
Beyond fleet expansion, Air Algérie plans to position itself as a centre of excellence for the A330neo by enhancing its maintenance and repair capabilities and establishing a dedicated maintenance training centre.
According to data from ch-aviation, Air Algérie currently operates a mixed Boeing and Airbus fleet. Its Airbus inventory consists of three A320s and two A330-200s, while its Boeing fleet includes five 737-600s, two 737-700Cs, and 24 737-800s. The airline’s regional subsidiary operates 15 ATR 72-500 and 72-600 turboprop aircraft. In total, the network spans 203 routes to 81 destinations across 30 countries.
As of the end of October 2025, the Airbus A330 family had accumulated more than 1,900 firm orders from over 130 customers worldwide. The A330neo, like all Airbus aircraft, is certified to operate with up to 50 percent Sustainable Aviation Fuel, supporting the industry’s long-term environmental commitments.
