A proposal has been introduced in Florida to rename Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) as Donald J. Trump International Airport.
The bill cites the airport’s proximity to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence as a reason for the change. The initiative is led by state representative Meg Weinberger.
This proposal follows a recent move to rename a nearby road “President Donald J. Trump Boulevard.”
Supporters argue that the idea aligns with the American tradition of honoring presidents, pointing to examples like Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush. Public reaction, however, has been mixed. While airport operations wouldn’t be affected, updates to signage and branding would be required.
The bill is expected to be formally introduced soon.
