Lufthansa to Train German Air Force Pilots

Lufthansa Aviation Training has been selected to provide initial flight training to the German Air Force’s new pilot candidates. Under the programme, which will begin at Rostock-Laage Airport in February 2027, around 50 pilot candidates will be trained each year.

Alongside theoretical instruction, the programme will include practical flight training on Diamond DA40 NG aircraft. Conducting the training close to Tactical Air Wing 73 “Steinhoff”, which also hosts a Eurofighter unit, will strengthen coordination between Lufthansa Aviation Training and the German Air Force.
