Azerbaijan Airlines’ Transit Passenger Traffic Up 39%

Azerbaijan Airlines carried 536,000 transit passengers in the first six months of 2026. According to a statement by the company’s Chief Executive Officer Jamil Manizade, the figure represents a 39% increase compared with the same period last year.

The data shared by Manizade showed that the share of transit passengers on domestic routes rose from 21% in 2025 to 28%. On international routes, the ratio climbed from 26% to 35%.

Stressing that transfer traffic accounts for an increasingly large part of the company’s route network, Manizade said this picture reinforces Baku’s role as a strategic transit hub connecting Europe, Asia and other key regions.

The company also shared details on the destinations where the growth in transit passengers was highest.
