Ethiopian Airlines is evaluating new narrowbody aircraft from Airbus, Boeing and Embraer as part of its fleet expansion plans.
The airline is considering an order for 25 aircraft, with options for 10 more. The models under review include the Airbus A220, smaller variants of the Boeing 737 MAX family and Embraer regional jets.
A decision could be announced within weeks, potentially during the Farnborough Airshow. Ethiopian Airlines is also nearing a separate decision on an order for 16 freighters, with eight additional options.
The planned purchases support the carrier’s strategy to strengthen Addis Ababa as a major global connecting hub and expand operations ahead of the opening of the new Bishoftu International Airport.
