Air Astana CEO Canliel Meets with Kazakhstan’s President

Air Astana CEO Ibrahim Canliel met with Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to discuss the airline group’s operational and financial performance, as well as its long-term growth strategy.
During the meeting, Canliel outlined plans to expand Air Astana’s fleet with Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2026 and 2027. The new aircraft are expected to feature modern cabin interiors and onboard internet connectivity.
As part of its broader expansion programme, the group has placed orders for up to 50 Airbus A320neo and A321neo family aircraft, along with up to 15 additional Boeing 787-9s. Deliveries are planned to continue through 2036.
The talks also covered Air Astana’s plans to expand its route network, increase connectivity through its hubs, strengthen its international presence and advance its digitalisation programme.
President Tokayev highlighted the importance of implementing the airline’s strategic priorities, including fleet expansion, network growth and efforts to strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as a regional transit hub.
