Caracas Airport Runway Damaged After Earthquake in Venezuela

Cracks have formed on Runway 10R/28L at Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, Venezuela, following a magnitude 7.1 earthquake on Wednesday.

Due to the runway damage, the airport has reportedly been closed to operations. Structural damage was also detected in the control tower and passenger terminal.

Authorities announced that the affected runway is expected to remain closed until July 2 while inspections and repair works continue.
