Man Breaches Airport Perimeter and Spray-Paints Aircraft in Chile

An individual breached the perimeter fence at and gained access to the airside area, where a parked passenger aircraft was vandalized with graffiti.

According to local media reports, the incident occurred on Runway 17L, which is currently being used for aircraft parking and maintenance activities. The unidentified individual reportedly spray-painted the fuselage of a Airbus A321neo before leaving the area.

The aircraft had previously operated for and was reportedly in storage at the time of the incident.

Following the event, Chile’s civil aviation authority launched an investigation, while security agencies began efforts to identify the suspect. Authorities also stated that security measures around ongoing construction zones at the airport would be reviewed.
