Ryanair Flight Departs Empty Due to Lack of Security Personnel

An unusual incident occurred at Chalon-Vatry Airport, located near Paris, France. Ryanair’s #FR4408 flight, scheduled to fly from Paris to Marrakesh, took off empty due to a shortage of security personnel, leaving its 192 passengers behind.

➡️ The incident occurred at Chalon-Vatry Airport, about two hours from Paris city center. Due to the insufficient number of security personnel, necessary security screenings could not be performed, resulting in the aircraft taking off without the passengers on board.

ℹ️ The airport security in France is managed by a private company, and the security personnel operate independently of the airport management. Other airport staff cannot substitute for the security personnel, which creates legal barriers.

Ryanair officials confirmed that the flight was not canceled and no compensation will be provided. The company clarified that EU261/2004 regulations only apply in cases of overbooking and offered passengers the option to rebook for a future flight at no additional cost.
