Iranian Jets Shot Down Moments Before Attempted Strike on U.S. Base Energy Infrastructure

New details have emerged regarding the downing of two Iranian Su-24 bombers by Qatar.

The aircraft were alleged to be targeting Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, as well as critical energy infrastructure, while Qatari fighter jets were said to have intercepted and shot them down just minutes before they reached their targets. Qatari authorities later confirmed that two Iranian aircraft had been downed and announced that a search operation had been launched for the crews.

According to reports in the international media, the Iranian aircraft were flying at very low altitude in an apparent attempt to evade radar detection, failed to respond to radio warnings, and were subsequently engaged by Qatari forces. The aircraft were also alleged to have been carrying bombs and guided munitions.

Meanwhile, some reports also raised claims that the Su-24s had struck Camp Arifjan in Kuwait, allegedly causing the deaths of six U.S. service members. However, the six U.S. personnel killed in Kuwait were later linked to a separate attack.
