An American Airlines passenger flight was diverted to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport after a passenger reportedly caused a disturbance during the flight. Following the diversion, the FBI and airport police responded to the aircraft.
American Airlines Flight 2819, operating from New York JFK Airport to Chicago O’Hare, was diverted to Detroit. After landing, the aircraft was removed from the runway in line with standard procedure, moved to an isolated area, and thoroughly inspected by security authorities.
Passengers were deplaned and held in the terminal while the FBI and airport police carried out a precautionary search of the aircraft. Authorities later stated that there was no threat to the public.
