ITA Airways to Join Star Alliance on April 1

Italian carrier ITA Airways is set to officially join Star Alliance on April 1, 2026. The airline’s integration into the alliance had already been approved, with Lufthansa Group previously confirming that ITA Airways would join in the first half of 2026.

The transition to Star Alliance is seen as a key step in ITA Airways’ broader integration into the Lufthansa Group. The group also announced that, as of April 1, the Miles & More program will become ITA Airways’ official loyalty scheme.

Previously, Lufthansa Group noted that ITA Airways passengers were able to benefit from SkyTeam advantages until May 2025, after which the airline moved forward with its transition toward Star Alliance. Star Alliance has also confirmed that the integration process for ITA Airways has been initiated.

With this move, ITA Airways is expected to formalize its position within the Star Alliance network starting April 1, 2026.
