Fuel Shortage Disrupts Flights in Vietnam

A tightening jet fuel supply in Vietnam has begun to directly impact aviation operations. Rising prices and reduced availability are leading to cuts in domestic flight services.

➡️ Vietnam Airlines is preparing to cancel approximately 23 weekly flights starting in April, while VietJet is reducing frequencies on several routes. Affected routes include Hai Phong–Buon Ma Thuot, Hai Phong–Cam Ranh, Hai Phong–Phu Quoc, Hai Phong–Can Tho, as well as Ho Chi Minh City–Van Don, Ho Chi Minh City–Rach Gia, and Ho Chi Minh City–Dien Bien.

➡️ The crisis is largely driven by the country’s reliance on imported jet fuel, along with reduced supply from China and Thailand. Ongoing developments in the Middle East are also putting pressure on global fuel markets, further accelerating the situation.

Authorities state that the priority under current conditions is to maintain critical domestic connectivity, adding that flight planning will continue to be adjusted in line with fuel availability.
