
A Boeing 737 aircraft registered 5N-MJF, operating Arik Air flight #W3740 from Lagos to Port Harcourt, experienced an engine malfunction during the flight. Following the issue, the aircraft diverted to Benin Airport and carried out a safe landing.
In a statement released by the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), it was noted that an abnormal indication was detected on the engine instruments during the flight. In line with standard procedures, the crew shut down the affected engine as a precaution and decided to divert to the nearest suitable airport, Benin.
The aircraft landed without further incident. All passengers and crew disembarked in accordance with normal procedures, and no injuries were reported.
