UK Asks Air India to Explain AI132 Fuel Switch Incident

The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has requested Air India to clarify why Flight AI132, a Boeing 787, departed London with a potentially faulty fuel switch before being grounded in India for safety inspections.

In a formal letter sent Tuesday, the regulator warned that failure to provide a full response within one week could result in regulatory action against Air India and its B787 fleet. The CAA also requested a root cause analysis of the incident.

Air India stated that a precautionary re-inspection of the fuel switches was completed with no anomalies detected, and confirmed it will respond to the UK regulator accordingly.

The CAA noted that requesting such details following an aircraft incident is standard regulatory procedure and aligns with safety assurance protocols.
