FedEx announced that it is targeting a return to operations for its MD-11 aircraft in line with the planned schedule by May 31.
The company stated that any inspections and maintenance processes required to safely bring the MD-11s back into service are being carried out in coordination with Boeing and the FAA.
Meanwhile, UPS announced that it has retired more than two dozen remaining MD-11 aircraft from its fleet. It was noted that this decision was taken as part of an acceleration of existing plans. UPS added that deliveries of Boeing 767 aircraft are planned to replace the retired MD-11s.
