“Bomb” Wi-Fi Name Causes Panic on Barcelona Flight: Statement from Turkish Airlines

On Turkish Airlines Flight TK1853 from Istanbul to Barcelona, safety procedures were activated shortly before landing. The announcement was made by THY Communications Director Yahya Üstün.

According to the statement, the situation arose when a passenger named their in-flight Wi-Fi hotspot with a term referencing a bomb threat. This was immediately assessed as a potential safety risk, and standard safety protocols were promptly implemented.

The aircraft landed safely in Barcelona, after which local authorities carried out the necessary security checks. The process was conducted in accordance with international aviation safety regulations.

The incident is currently under investigation by Spanish authorities.
