A Miami-based Boeing 737 captain flying for American Airlines shared their pay statement on Reddit. According to the post, the captain’s hourly flight pay exceeds $360. When all pay components are included, the figures show:
• Biweekly gross pay: about $35,000
• Monthly income: about $70,000
• Annual earnings: about $840,000
Comments on the post note that this salary does not represent the top earning potential within the company. Pilots operating widebody aircraft reportedly earn around 20–25% more, and under the current collective bargaining agreement, gradual pay increases are expected through 2027.
