Turkish Airlines and Samsung Introduce Smart Tagged Baggage Service

Turkish Airlines has announced a new partnership with Samsung to roll out a Smart Tagged Baggage Service designed to improve baggage tracking for passengers. Beginning December 1, travelers will be able to monitor their luggage through SmartThings Find when using baggage equipped with Samsung’s Galaxy SmartTag.

The flag carrier becomes the first airline globally to apply SmartThings technology to passenger baggage tracking. In addition to real-time location updates, passengers will be able to upload a photo of their luggage in the SmartThings Find app to help identify bags more easily. Turkish Airlines says it also plans to expand the use of SmartThings’ location-based functions into other digital services over time.

Turkish Airlines Chief Information Technologies Officer Kerem Kızıltunç said the collaboration supports the company’s broader digital transformation goals. He noted that the airline aims to enhance the travel experience with technologies that place passenger needs at the forefront.

Samsung Electronics Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings Jaeyeon Jung said the company continues to broaden SmartThings Find through cross-industry partnerships. She described the cooperation with Turkish Airlines as a step toward offering travelers a more streamlined and convenient journey.

The agreement marks another move by Turkish Airlines to strengthen its innovation strategy as it works to enrich each stage of the passenger experience.
