Dreamliner’s Strongest Year Since Launch

787 Dreamliner Marks the Second Most Successful Year in Program History / 320 New Orders

Speaking at Dubai Airshow, Boeing announced that 2025 is the second most successful sales year in the history of the 787 Dreamliner program. With 320 orders placed in just the first 11 months, the Dreamliner surpassed the combined order total of the Airbus A350 and A330 families.

Darren Hulst, Boeing’s Vice President of Marketing, highlighted that the recovery in long-haul travel, network diversification trends, and strong growth across the Middle East have given the 787 family significant momentum. Hulst described the demand as “exceptional.”

Nearly half of this year’s Dreamliner orders were for the largest variant, the 787-10. With total orders exceeding 400, many airlines have opted to convert their 787-9 orders into 787-10s. Combining payload capability with fuel efficiency, the 787-10 has become virtually unmatched for high-density medium- and long-haul routes.

In recent years, the 787 family has enabled 71 new routes worldwide — representing around 20% of all new global city pairs. Carriers in the region are using the Dreamliner to link secondary cities across Europe, Africa, and Asia, delivering operations that were previously only feasible with larger widebodies such as the 777-300ER or A380, but now with far greater flexibility and efficiency.
