Iran Launches Cloud Seeding Operations Amid Severe Drought

Iran has initiated cloud seeding operations in an effort to generate rainfall as the country faces one of the most severe drought periods in recent years. Officials stated that aircraft are dispersing silver iodide and salt particles into clouds to trigger precipitation.

According to authorities, the first flight under the nationwide operation was carried out over the Lake Urmia Basin during the weekend. The cloud seeding activities are expected to continue in order to mitigate the effects of the drought and support regional water resources.
