Close Call at Los Angeles Airport

According to Flightradar24 data, an ITA Airways flight #AZ621 from Los Angeles to Rome made an unexpected left turn after taking off from runway 24L, coming within approximately 1 kilometer of an American Airlines flight #AA4 bound for New York, which had just departed from runway 25L. The American Airlines aircraft stopped its climb, while the ITA Airways jet was alerted by Air Traffic Control and corrected its unexpected maneuver.
Neither ITA Airways nor the FAA has yet issued a statement. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation to determine whether the incident was caused by pilot error.
