WestJet Confirms Data Breach Following Cyberattack

Canada-based airline WestJet has announced that a cyberattack on June 13 resulted in some passenger information being accessed by unauthorized parties. According to the company’s statement, the attackers obtained data including names, contact details, dates of birth, and travel documents.

WestJet emphasized that credit card numbers and passwords were not affected by the breach, and flight operations continued as normal. Following the incident, the airline launched a joint investigation with the FBI and the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security.

The company stated that identity protection and fraud prevention services will be provided to affected passengers. It also announced that additional security measures have been implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future.
