Turkish Airlines (THY) has announced one of the largest aircraft orders in its history as part of its growth strategy to expand and modernize its fleet. According to a statement filed with the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), the airline will purchase 75 Boeing 787-9 and 787-10 aircraft, with 50 firm orders and 25 options.
The statement also confirmed that negotiations with Boeing have concluded for 150 Boeing 737-8 and 737-10 MAX aircraft—100 firm and 50 options. The finalization of this order is contingent upon successful negotiations with engine manufacturer CFM International.
Meanwhile, THY continues discussions with Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace regarding engines and maintenance services for its widebody fleet. With these new orders, the airline aims to fully transition to next-generation aircraft by 2035.
The company expects this investment to boost operational efficiency and support an average annual growth rate of around 6%
