Lufthansa Boeing 747 Operating Chicago–Frankfurt Flight Experiences Landing Gear Issue

Lufthansa flight #LH431 from Chicago to Frankfurt, operated by a Boeing 747 registered D-ABYH, was forced to return due to a landing gear problem.

Shortly after taking off from Chicago O’Hare Airport’s Runway 09C, the aircraft leveled off at 6,000 feet. The crew then diverted the flight over Lake Michigan to dump fuel.

After approximately 75 minutes in the air, the aircraft landed safely and was taken out of service for maintenance and repairs.
