Qantas to Shut Down Jetstar Asia

Rising Changi Airport Fees Cited as Key Factor

Australian airline group Qantas has announced that its Singapore-based low-cost subsidiary Jetstar Asia will cease operations as of July 31. The decision comes amid escalating operational costs, new fee increases at Changi Airport effective April 1, and intense competition in the regional market.

Jetstar Group CEO Stephanie Tully emphasized the sharp rise in costs across Singapore’s aviation ecosystem, stating, “Fee hikes at Changi Airport are part of those increasing expenses. This has directly impacted Jetstar Asia’s ability to continue operations.”
