Air India is in negotiations with Boeing to acquire around 10 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft that Chinese airlines have refused to take delivery of. Due to high tariffs between the United States and China, these aircraft were not delivered as originally planned. The goal is to add the jets to the fleet of Air India’s low-cost subsidiary, Air India Express.
Air India Express had previously incorporated 737 MAX aircraft into its fleet that were originally produced for Chinese customers but were left undelivered.
