Theft Allegation on Qatar Airways Flight: Cabin Crew Member Dismissed
A serious security scandal allegedly took place during Qatar Airways’ business class flight from Doha to Singapore on March 28, 2025. A passenger, sharing their experience on Reddit, claimed that their phone, which they had accidentally left in the lavatory before landing, was stolen. According to the passenger, the phone disappeared after a male cabin crew member exited the lavatory.
The passenger reported the incident immediately after landing and, after several weeks of waiting, was informed by the airline’s security department. The investigation revealed that the cabin crew member had committed the theft and was subsequently terminated. Tracking the phone’s location showed that the device was moved to the crew member’s hotel in Singapore and later transported to the Philippines.
Qatar Airways compensated the passenger with 949 Singapore Dollars—the value of the phone—and requested that the passenger sign a “release and waiver” document. However, the passenger expressed deep disappointment with the airline’s poor communication, the classification of the incident as a “lost item,” and the lack of any compensation for the work-related losses and emotional distress suffered. The passenger stated a preference to resolve the matter directly but indicated they might pursue legal action if a satisfactory outcome is not achieved.
