Amid rising trade tariffs, some Chinese airlines have declined delivery of Boeing aircraft they previously ordered. In response, Boeing has announced plans to reallocate these aircraft to other customers. CEO Kelly Ortberg stated that discussions are ongoing with Chinese clients over nine aircraft that haven’t yet entered the production system. If necessary, these jets will be redirected to different markets.
Most recently, a third Boeing 737 MAX 8 that was not delivered to China was returned from Boeing’s Zhoushan completion center to Guam, USA. Ortberg emphasized that the issue is specific to the Chinese market, and due to strong global demand, the undelivered jets could be delivered earlier to other customers.
