Airbus is investigating a corrosion issue detected in some A220 passenger aircraft. Sources familiar with the matter reported that corrosion has been found at passenger seat mounting points and wing components.
Among the affected parts is the wing-to-body fairing, which reduces air resistance and serves as an aerodynamic covering at the junction between the wings and the fuselage. However, this component is not structurally critical.
Airbus and the involved airlines have emphasized that the issue does not pose an immediate safety risk. Meanwhile, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has acknowledged the issue and confirmed that airlines are taking the necessary precautions.
