Wizz Air Considers New Flights to Bilbao from the Balkans

Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air is considering launching new direct flights to Bilbao, Spain, from its bases in the Balkans. Potential routes include services from Belgrade in Serbia, Skopje in North Macedonia, Podgorica in Montenegro, and Tuzla in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Wizz Air’s Route Director, Samuel Ferrera, stated that some of the airline’s Balkan bases currently lack direct connections to Bilbao and that the company is evaluating opportunities to introduce new routes. Local authorities in Bilbao are also considering Belgrade and Zagreb as potential new destinations as part of efforts to expand the airport’s international network.

As part of Wizz Air’s expansion plans at Bilbao Airport, the airline’s seat capacity is expected to increase from approximately 600,000 in 2026 to 1.4 million across 13 routes in 2027. However, no final decision or launch date has been announced for the potential new services from the Balkans.
