Nigerian Air Force ATR 42 Crashes

An ATR 42-500 maritime patrol aircraft operated by the Nigerian Air Force, with the registration NAF931, crashed in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State. The aircraft was reportedly operating a scheduled flight from Benin to Lagos when contact was lost at around 09:13 local time.

There were reportedly 32 people on board, including 25 passengers and 7 crew members. The aircraft is said to have crashed into a swampy area near a naval base, while the Nigerian Air Force stated that search and rescue operations are ongoing in the area.

No official statement has yet been made regarding the condition of those on board, and the cause of the crash remains unknown.
