Flydubai Incident: Co-Pilot’s Career History Comes Under Scrutiny

Following the cockpit incident on Flydubai flight FZ1073, questions have been raised about co-pilot Hamam al-Hammami’s previous airline employment and the processes surrounding his pilot license.
According to information shared on social media, Al-Hammami worked at Oman Air for about seven years and left the company in February 2025. During this period, he completed an online aviation management program at Buckinghamshire New University, graduating in 2023. The university reportedly stated that the program did not include pilot training. Al-Hammami is said to have then been at Royal Air Maroc from June 2025 to January 2026, where he allegedly received only theoretical training and did not operate any flights. He subsequently joined Flydubai, where he reportedly served for about eight months.
The post also highlighted claims that Oman Air had removed Al-Hammami from flight duty because of his radical views, and questioned whether this information had been shared with the relevant civil aviation authorities and his subsequent employers.
