New Details Emerge About Suspect’s Background in Flydubai Incident

New details have emerged about the background of Hamam al-Hammami, the co-pilot under investigation on suspicion of attacking the captain during Flydubai’s Dubai–Tel Aviv flight. Al-Hammami, an Omani national, was reportedly removed from flight training and reassigned to another role at Oman Air, where he previously worked, due to concerns over his radical views. He later worked for Royal Air Maroc before joining Flydubai approximately eight months ago.

According to CNN, social media accounts that were deleted following the incident contained cockpit images of El Al and Arkia aircraft, as well as photos of former Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri and Humam Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi, who killed nine people in a 2009 suicide bombing. The posts were reportedly published around nine hours after the incident, although it remains unclear whether they were posted by the suspect himself or had been scheduled in advance.
