Iran Responds to US Sanctions Threat
Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization has announced that international flights are continuing as scheduled despite the United States’ new sanctions threat targeting Iranian airlines.
According to Interfax, an official from Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization said that no international flights operated by Iranian airlines had been cancelled, adding that services were continuing according to the existing schedule and that no instructions had been received to suspend international flights. The official also said flights would continue as planned in October.
The statement added that Iran Air’s flights to Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Iraq were continuing without disruption. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, meanwhile, said on September 22 that Iran’s international flights could be halted from September 23 as a result of sanctions targeting companies that provide services to Iranian airlines.
