2 New Appointments at Air Astana Group | CFO Canliel to Become CEO on April 1

Air Astana Group has announced two senior leadership appointments, including a management change at its low-cost subsidiary.

According to the company’s statement, Johan Eidhagen will assume the role of President of FlyArystan effective March 1, 2026. Eidhagen previously held several senior positions at Wizz Air, most recently serving as Managing Director of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi. Throughout his career, he has overseen marketing, human resources, and ESG functions.

As part of the leadership reshuffle, current FlyArystan President Richard Ledger has been appointed Vice President (Partnerships and Alliances) within Air Astana Group. The company has recently expanded its international network through new codeshare agreements and aims to further strengthen its global connectivity.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim Canliel, currently serving as Chief Financial Officer of Air Astana, will take over as CEO of Air Astana Group as of April 1.

In his remarks, Canliel highlighted that Eidhagen’s experience in marketing, digitalization, human resources, and particularly in the low-cost carrier (LCC) segment will support FlyArystan’s continued growth across its expanding core markets, especially in Central Asia and the Caucasus. He also wished Richard Ledger success in his new role, noting that the Partnerships and Alliances division plays a key role in the group’s global growth strategy.
